Applied Mathematics

    Mission

The Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Mathematics is a unique program in its modality in the State and in the region, that the Autonomous University of Baja California, the first educational institution at a higher level in the entity, has created aware of the strength that mathematical knowledge means in the development of individuals and as a fundamental tool for the advancement of science.

Thus, the mission of this educational program is to train mathematicians who:

    1. They can strengthen, complement and support the teaching and research that are developed in the locality, through the consolidation of interdisciplinary and inter-institutional academic groups, which guarantee continuity in the training of specialized human resources at the undergraduate level and at the level of studies of postgraduate in mathematics.
    2. They can emphasize, grow and create the solid bases on which the technological and scientific advances that the country and the region need are based, through the link with the business and industrial productive environment, as well as with the social environment of the region.
    3. They can establish mathematical advisory offices to collaborate in the social and technological development of the environment, independently and assertively, as well as join the teaching work in the different institutions of upper secondary education.

    Vision

In 2025, the Applied Mathematics program is a program of academic excellence with regional, national and international recognition for the quality of its graduates, which complements and supports teaching and research by virtue of the solidity of the theoretical bases, as well as the Local and regional business, technological and financial sphere in which it emphasizes and contributes to the creation of the solid foundations on which the technological and scientific advances that the country and the region need are based and, which is linked to the business and productive environment. industrial, as well as with the social environment of the region.

For this, it has consolidated academic bodies with lines of research and generation of pertinent knowledge, which interact with inter-institutional and interdisciplinary groups, favoring that future generations contribute to the sustainable and innovative development of the region and the country.

    Objectives

The objectives of the educational program are in accordance with the philosophy, policy and substantive activities of our University, and are the following:

    • In extension and dissemination of culture: Establish programs that promote the dissemination of mathematics, contributing to optimal intellectual development of individuals.
    • In research: Develop interdisciplinary projects that contribute to solutions of social, technological and scientific problems by applying the theories, methods and procedures of mathematics, generating new knowledge and applications.
    • In connection: Create projects with the public, social and business sectors to contribute to the solution of regional and national problems, favoring social, economic and technology development.
